In the Spotlight with Pat and Janet...
Two of our lovely residents have not just made Oakview Lakes their home, but have taken an interest in our local community. This quarter we are spotlighting Pat Apker and Janet Moshier, who are co-chairing this year’s Oakview Lakes team for Fort Meade’s Relay for Life. Pat has lived in Oakview since 1998 and has been an active participant in Relay for Life. She previously worked on Oakview’s team, as well as her church’s team and the Sand Mountain Cloggers’ team. Before moving to Oakview Lakes, Janet was also an active participant in Relay for Life up north. Janet was a former honorary chair, which is always a cancer survivor. She was also responsible for putting teams together. This dynamic duo, who are now neighbors, have come together and taken charge of Oakview’s team. They have been so thrilled with all of the residents who have been so supportive, willing, and eager to help out in any way. In fact, Oakview has already exceeded their $2,500.00 goal and has currently raised a total of $5,300.00. Oakview Lakes has built quite the reputation in our small town with Relay for Life. They are always one of the top teams to raise the most money for this most worthy cause. We are so proud of Pat and Janet and our Oakview team. Keep up the good work!Fort Meade’s Relay for Life is this weekend, April 1st and 2nd. Opening ceremony kicks-off at 6pm Friday night, at the Fort Meade Middle Senior High School football field. The Survivor Walk and Reception begins at 10am Saturday morning. Come down to Relay for Life this weekend and support the Oakview Lakes team, where they will be selling lemonade. They are the Lemon Drops and hope to “put the squeeze on cancer!”
We are pleased to announce that Oakview received the “Gold Award” for raising $5,324.85 to “Squeeze Out Cancer”. Oakview is already registered for Relay for Life 2012 and are planning many fundraisers including a Bealls Fashion Show this fall. The fashion show will showcase cruise attire for the residents who are cruising together January 14 – January 21. Over 100 residents of Oakview have signed up for the cruise.
